SAFETY AND HEALTH OFFICE
About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Safety & Health Officer (SHO) to join PH Uni Palm Sdn Bhd in Segamat, Johor. The role is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment, statutory compliance and effective OSH practices across our palm oil mill operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Company OSH policies, SOPs, HIRARC and DOSH/JKKP requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, risk assessments and workplace monitoring across mill operations.
- Identify and control hazards involving machinery, boilers, electrical systems, chemicals, confined spaces, hot work, elevated work activities and maintenance operations.
- Conduct safety induction, toolbox talks, training, awareness campaigns and emergency drills.
- Coordinate Safety & Health Committee and Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Monitor PPE, firefighting equipment, first-aid facilities and other safety equipment.
- Monitor contractor safety and Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements for high-risk activities.
- Maintain OSH records, safety statistics and reports, and liaise with DOSH/JKKP, BOMBA and relevant authorities when required.
- Advise management and department heads on safety improvements and promote a strong safety-first culture.
- Perform other safety-related duties assigned by Management.
Requirements
- Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) or equivalent.
- Valid DOSH/JKKP Green Book / Registered SHO – Mandatory.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant experience, preferably in a palm oil mill, manufacturing, plantation or other high-risk industry.
- Good knowledge of Malaysian OSH legislation, HIRARC and workplace safety practices.
- Experience in accident investigation, safety inspection, safety training and emergency response.
- Knowledge of boiler, machinery, chemical, electrical and maintenance safety is an advantage.
- Good communication, reporting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and willing to work in a palm oil mill environment.
- Valid driving licence is a must.
